Taking Mircette®

What should you expect?
Your period while taking Mircette

While taking Mircette® you should expect to get your period during the last week of your pack. Women who take birth control pills usually have a lighter, shorter, and more predictable period than women who don’t.

After your first pill pack

Once you finish all 28 pills in your pack, keep on going. Start your next pack the very next day so that you don’t increase your chance of becoming pregnant. Stay on track and keep taking your pills.

Things you may experience

It’s important to remember that each woman has a different experience with the birth control she chooses. Sometimes low-dose pills cause women to experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting (bleeding between periods). In studies conducted in women taking Mircette®, fewer than 5% of women experienced breakthrough bleeding and fewer than 10% of women experienced spotting.

Mircette® is greater or equal99% effective when taken properly. If you are a Sunday start patient, it is necessary to use another method of birth control as a back-up method if you have sex anytime from the Sunday you start your first pack until the next Sunday (7 days). Condoms, foam, or the sponge are good back-up methods of birth control.
